A Journey of Discovery and Transformation through South India
February 11 – February 26 2019
Join Lisa Messina on her fifth annual journey through South India and connect with the origins of yoga through the vibrant colours, landscapes, and culture of this ancient and inspiring country. This trip offers the unique opportunity to travel through India with an experienced guide in a supportive group setting, while providing ample opportunity for personal healing and transformation.
Your journey through India flows in three segments and locations, each focusing on deepening your experience. Attune to nature in a jungle oasis where holistic healing is abundant. Explore and unearth the history of the ancient ruins and temples of Hampi. Surrender and deepen your practice on the beautiful beaches of South Goa.
– It’s time to commit to a visit to the origins of your practice.
February 11–15 | Khaama Kethna, Agonda Beach, Goa
Beginning in the south of Goa, gather at the extraordinary holistic healing centre called Khaama Kethna, nestled in the jungle valley near to Agonda Beach. The Khaama Ketthna community are deeply committed to sustainability, preservation, and enhancing bio-diversity, providing the ideal place to arrive and attune to nature.
Sharing space with frolicking monkeys and the colourful birds of India, live in Eco-friendly huts and tree-houses made from bamboo, clay, stones, and palms.
In this natural paradise we will connect and start our exploration of body, heart, and soul by self-creating a schedule that compliments our personal practice. Yoga classes, art, therapeutic treatments, swimming lessons, creative workshops, and healing ceremonies will be available for you to customize into a daily practice that allows for you to begin to attune and open to your journey.
February 15–19 | Hampis Boulders Resort, Hampi
To travel by Indian Rail is to truly experience authentic India and her gorgeously diverse landscape.
We board our train in Goa and disembark in Hampi, a UNESCO heritage site located on the banks of River Tungabhadra to spend three days immersed in the setting of the great Indian poem, the Ramayana. Surrounded by an incredible backdrop of palm groves and paddy fields, epic boulders balance upon one another in precarious arrangements creating an otherworldly environment for the ancient treasures of temples and ruins that await our exploration. Dating from the 14th to 16th century, these gorgeous relics are the remnants of the last great Hindu Kingdom of Vijayanagara and with the help of a local tour guide, we will explore and learn about the history, culture and mythology of this ancient city. Journey up the winding steps to Sri Hanuman’s temple located at the top of Anjaneya Hill, the place believed to be the deity’s birthplace. Watch the sunrise over Hampi and witness true devotion in the temple’s sacred prayer ceremonies, a rare and special experience.
Relax and restore at the stunning Hampis Boulders Resort and enjoy free time swimming in the pool, hiking, resting and reflecting on the ancient wonders that surround before returning by train to Goa.
February 19 -26 | Bamboo Yoga Retreat, Patnem Beach, Goa
Arriving in Goa at Bamboo Yoga Retreat, we take a breath and dive deep into our yoga practice. Peacefully secluded at the end of Patnem’s gorgeous white sand beach, Lisa hosts a week of workshops, classes and one-on-one coaching sessions that combine yoga, therapeutics, pilates and relational-somatic therapies.
Through Lisa’s thematically skilled and creative teachings, we journey through layers of Being, exploring what is necessary to reveal the essential Self. Within this beautiful setting of palm trees and ocean waves, we deepen our connection to ourselves, each other and our surroundings while also indulging in free time to individually explore this perfect paradise.
Delight in your choice of activities ranging from swimming in the ocean and enjoying the beach, to exploring the local culture of the Goan people, and visiting surrounding beach towns where shopping, food and adventure are abundant. This week is a true celebration of your best-self and the ideal finale to our voyage together.
